Tigers rally for 3rd place in Gladewater tourney

Fresh off winning the Super Series Tournament, the Tigers captured third in the Gladewater Tournament, held March 1-3. Troup was seeded second in pool play (following a tie-breaker for the top spot).

The Tigers opened tournament play with Chapel Hill Mount Pleasant and won 9-1.

The winning pitcher was Adam Voigt who also went 2-4 at the plate. Brice Clark also led the Tigers with a three-RBI game. Austin Braswell also contributed two RBIs as well.

In the second game Troup faced Grace and won 7-4. The Tigers offensive attack was led by Austin Braswell and Brice Clark who were both 2-3 at the plate.

Preston Pittinger started the game on the mound before being relieved by Jordan Jackson who would get the win. Austin Braswell was attributed with the save.

The Tigers' loss came in the third game with Lone Oak with Troup falling short in a 12- 7 ball game. Offensively the Tigers were led by Cody Deese who was 3-3 at the plate, Brice Clark who was 2-2 and Nick Harrison who contributed two RBIs.

Joel Hasley suffered the loss and was relieved by Brice Clark.

The Tigers faced off with host Gladewater in an exciting battle for third place. Troup rallied with six runs in the top of the seventh to win 9-4 and capture third place.

Offensively the Tigers were led by Harrison, Voigt, and Jason Osteen who were all 2-4 at the plate.

The Tigers defense was led by the pitching performance of Braswell and some outstanding defensive plays.

The Tigers finished preseason play at 8-2 heading into the district opener with Waskom.

Next up for the Tigers is a tournment appearance in Frankston for the varsity March 8-10 and a district road matchup with West Rusk for varsity and JV (1-0) on March 13
