Cats maul Bulldogs The Wildcats came into Friday's game with Kilgore knowing that they had to win out to take the district title. They started the scoring with five minutes remaining in the half. Eric O'Neill received a throw in by Paul Metzner and somehow found the upper corner of the net, despite having his back to the goal, for the 1-0 lead. Just two minutes later, Robby Downs scored to give the Cats the 2-0 halftime lead. Whitehouse notched three goals within four minutes into the second half. Howard Rodriguez scored on a breakaway pass from Caleb Jacque, and then O'Neill crossed a ball back to Jaque who volleyed a goal-rattling shot. Just 17 seconds later, O'Neill sent a through ball to Rodriguez who put it away for the 5-0 lead. The Bulldogs responded with two quick goals of their own to narrow the lead to 5-2. Mitchell Muller capped off the scoring with just 56 seconds remaining in the game to secure the Cats 6-2 win. JV 1, Kilgore 2 The Cats started the game a little slow and were unable to put much offense together until 12:56 remaining in the first half. Colton Strother found Julio Alleman open and Alleman beat the keeper for the 1-0 lead. The Bulldogs came out on fire the second half scoring just two minutes into the half on a penalty kick and just one minute later to take the lead at 2-1.
