TJC jazz festival ends March 23
Performers include area school bands, college ensemble

Vince DiMartino, former lead and solo trumpet with the Lionel Hampton Band, the Chuck Mangione Band and the Clark Terry Band, will be one of two featured guest artists to perform with the Tyler Junior College jazz ensemble at the closing concert of the TJC Jazz Festival at 8 p.m. Friday, March 23, in Wise Auditorium.

Admission is free.

DiMartino has performed worldwide as a soloist and with artists such as Henry Mancini, Doc Severinsen, Pearl Bailey, Dizzy Gillespie and Dave Brubeck.

Also featured is local pianist George Faber, former musician with Jon Faddis and currently Tyler ISD visual and performing arts coordinator.

TJC Jazz Ensemble I includes: Jacob Wellman, Mabank; Jeremy Rogers, Whitehouse; Jean Villasana, Palestine; Jordan Eckeberger, Big Sandy; Patrick Marshall, Houston; Phillip Joseph, DeSoto; Josh Wood, Wills Point; Nathaniel Gardner, Martins Mill; Alan Burson, Frankston; Kyle Anderson, Tyler; Phillip Terrell, Tyler; Sean Morrow, Big Sandy; Jonathan Gandy, Tyler; Cedric Lewis, Hallsville; Hayden McMullen, Mabank; Phil Rumbley, Tyler; and Kenny Davis, Lindale.

TJC Jazz Ensemble II includes: Jamey Whitley, Whitehouse; Jeremy Rogers, Whitehouse; Cody Jamison, Arp; Jacob Wellman, Mabank; Justin Davis, Ingram; Ryan McInturff, Van; Matt Hernandez, Wills Point; Sam Labordus, Hawkins; Brad Hughes, Tyler; Eliu Santos, Kaufman; Jarrod Yeager, Buffalo; Adrian Jones, Tyler; Ryley Tharp, Katy; Daniel Sells, Longview; Cedric Lewis, Hallsville; David Thomason, Quitman; Hayden McMullen, Mabank; and Gabriel Guevara, Tyler.

Jazz groups from the following area schools will also perform throughout the day: Robert E. Lee High School, John Tyler High School; Hubbard Middle School; Moore MST Magnet School; Grace Community; Hallsville High School; Hallsville Junior High; and UT Tyler.
