Troup City Council approves resolutions During Tuesday's Troup City Council meeting, resolutions were passed allowing the mayor to execute the Tax-Resale Deeds relating to two properties up for bid. These are properties identified as lots 7- 10 and 11-12 on Joy Drive. A new ordinance prohibiting the use of engine brakes within the corporate limits of the city was approved. This stems from a citizen petition that was presented to the council some time back. After the chief of police provided the council with the necessary information, the ordinance was written and submitted to the council for approval. A variance requested by Steven Oakes to the council concerning a setback requirement for a planned addition at 405 W. Bradford was approved. Following a lengthy discussion, a variance request made by Billy Ray Jones concerning an absent survey was tabled. Mr. Jones has been unable to locate the survey that is required by Ordinance 2006- 0711-01 to receive a permit from the city for an addition he wishes to build on to his current home. Other items tabled during the meeting concerned an updated manufactured home ordinance and an ordinance changing the review requirements of certain replats submitted to the city for approval. The mayor and council felt these items needed more information before consideration. City Administrator Russ Obar advised the council that the issue of a school resource officer would be on the agenda of the Troup ISD meeting next week. Any changes that could come from that meeting will be presented to the council at the next regular meeting. |
