James E. "Jim" Reedy
He was born on Dec. 16, 1920 in Phoenix, Ariz., to the late Robert Graham and Cora Adeline Greenhill Reedy. He had lived in Whitehouse for 34 years and was a charter member and was significantly instrumental in the establishment of Gateway Baptist Church. He taught Sunday school for 50 years. He served on the Whitehouse City Council and was active in the Republican Party and also a member of the Henry Marsh Bell Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Thompson Reedy; daughter, Carol Boatright; three brothers and five sisters. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Dick Jackson of Whitehouse; son-in-law, Marvin Boatright of Lindale; brother, J.D. Reedy of Drewerburg, Ind.; grandsons, Jimmy Jackson and wife Carri of Whitehouse, Johnny Jackson and wife Julie of Tyler, and Brian Boatright of Dallas; great-grandchildren, James, Jordan and Jared Jackson, Connor Benge and Jackson Leslie; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Bobby Little, Kent Poole, Brad Woodard, Kevin Wood, Joe Don Abernathy and O.E. Ables. Honorary pallbearers were Winston Jones, Rev. Lewis Bell, Ray Terry, Paul Rowland and Bob Permenter. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Gateway Baptist Church Building Fund, 1205 Highway 110 South, Whitehouse, 75707; or Heart to Heart Hospice, 401 E. Front, Tyler, 75702. |
