Lady Cats earn 5th consecutive district title

Candace Campsey scored two goals to lead the Whitehouse girls over Hallsville, 6-0, Friday in District 17-4A soccer action.

Also scoring for Whitehouse (19-2, 12-0) were Heather Lofties, Kelli Hill, Elissa Parker and Jasmine Afghani.

Recording assists were Azghani, Parker, Lofties and Julie Woolverton. The shutout was accomplished thanks to the help of their two goalkeepers, Jamie Peace and Melissa Camp.

The team was scheduled to face Chapel Hill and have senior night on Tuesday, but the game was rained out and rescheduled for Wednesday.

The Hallsville win gave the Lady Cats their 5th straight district championship since 2003. They are also ranked No. 9 in Class 4A in the TASCO poll.

Whitehouse end regular season play in Marshall Thursday, with play beginning at 6 p.m.
