Boys fall to Bobcats

The Cats new the Hallsivlle Bobcats were going to be tough; the two teams battled to a shootout in their first meeting.

Facing off again Friday, the Bobcats were able to get on the board just four minutes into the game for the 1-0 lead.

With 9:09 left in the half, Jed McNeill was set to throw the ball deep in the box and found Paul Metzner who slammed it in for the 1-1 tie.

Neither team was able to score in the second half, setting up a second overtime decision.

Still tied at the end of two 10- minute overtimes, the teams went into a shootout. Robby Downs was the only Whitehouse player to make his shot, and the Bobcats made two of theirs to defeat the Cats 2-1.

Following the win, the Cats needed to win their two remaining games in regulation and have Athens beat Pine Tree to win the district.

The Cats record is 15-4-2 overall and 10-2-0 in district.
