Holloway science students compete at district fair

A group of 25 Holloway students went on to compete at the district science fair, held at Tyler Junior College. Raabe, Senn, Beaton and Robey all placed, with Robey finishing second in Best Overall/Biology.
Tyler Junior College has announced the winners of its annual district science fair for middle school students.

Participants in grades sixtheighth competed in either biology or physical science categories, with TJC faculty and staff judging the science fair projects.

There were 126 students who competed in the science fair this year, including 25 from Holloway Middle School.

"All of the students who competed worked hard and deserve our congratulations for a job well done," said Jenny Wallace, honor science instructor at Holloway.

Other schools participating were: Bullard Middle School, Moore Middle School, Lindale Junior High, All Saints Episcopal School, Maude Laird Middle School and Waskom Middle School.

The 25 Whitehouse students competing at district were selected from 98 honor science students who participated in a science fair at Holloway.

Winners in the Holloway science fair in the physical science division were: Jared Raabe, first; Whitney Senn, second; Rebecca Bailey, third; Alden Mutchnik, fourth; and Kyle Battles, fifth.

Winners in the biology division were: Braden Robey, first; Brannon Beaton, second; Leif Laperriere, third; Erin Strickland, fourth; and Chris Kunzman, fifth.
