Lady Cats off to 4-0 start

The Whitehouse Lady Cats are off to a fast start, going 4-0 in their first district match-ups.

The girls opened district on March 13 in Kilgore and totally overwhelmed the Lady Bulldogs, 17-0. The game was called in the fifth (run rule).

Emily Costlow pitched all five innings, chalking up nine strikeouts, four walks and one hit. At the plate, Jordan Knight went 3-for-4 including a single, double and homerun; Stephany Crawford was 1-for- 3 with a HR; and Chelsey Boulware was 2-for-4 with two singles.

The Lady Cats hosted Jacksonville on March 14, again posting a strong score, 13-2, and winning in five innings.

Taylor Russell pitched three innings and struck out four. She gave up three hits and one earned run.

Costlow pitched two innings, recording two strikeouts, no walks, one hit and one run.

Russell was perfect at 3- for3 including a HR; Brittany Newsome added two singles (2-2); Erica Fuller was 3-for-3 with two singles and a triple; and Crawford went 2-for3 with two singles.

Next up was a home game against Nacogdoches. Russell and Newsome were both 3- for-3, including another HR by Russell, as the Lady Cats overpowered Nac 10-0.

Costlow went the distance, striking out three and giving up two hits.

Boulware was 2 for 2 before having to be removed in the second inning after being struck by a line drive off the bat of Knight.

Haley Foster was 2-for-3 with a single and a double
