The Whitehouse Wildcat golfers took home the first place trophy at the Eustace Invitational Golf Tournament at Cedar Creek C.C. near Mabank on Monday.
Led by a spectacular performance from senior Travis Reed who fired four birdies in route to a one-under par 71, the Cats team score of 308 was 25 strokes better than Henderson.
The 15-team field struggled with high winds over the treelined course but senior Taylor Lemons finished one of his best rounds with a 78 for second place.
One of the pleasant surprises for the Wildcats has been the improved play of freshman Jordan Wright whose 79 put him in third place. Both Aaron Boone and Travis Sanders had rounds of 80 to round out the scores for Whitehouse.
The Whitehouse varsity boys and girls will be competing in the district tournament next. The boys and girls will tee off the first day of district at Crooked Hollow golf course near Marshall on April 3. The boys will finish April 10 at Pine Dunes while the girls last round will be April 9 at Lakeside C.C. in Marshall.
