First UMC to present music/drama

The music ministry and congregation of Whitehouse United Methodist Church will be presenting the music-drama "Jesus, Son of God" by Texas composer Gary Rhodes on Palm Sunday, April 1.

Mr. Rhodes is the minister of music at Highland Baptist Church in Waco and is a prolific composer with many well-known musicals already published. His works bring a unique perspective to Christian life and celebrations, incorporating familiar hymns, contemporar y Christian hits and original compositions to present the life and work of Christ.

Everyone is invited to share in this worship experience Sunday, April 1 at a special 10:45 am worship time. FUMC Whitehouse is located on FM 346 (Main Street) just west of 110. Egg hunt March 31

City Park will be a colorful bustle of youngsters and helpful adults when it welcomes the seventh annual Community Egg Hunt on March 31. The event is hosted by the Whitehouse Women's Civic League.

Karen Fedell, chairman of the egg hunt, says the event continues to grow each year.

"This is as much fun for us as it is for the kids," Fedell said. "At our meeting prior to the egg hunt, each member brings six dozen plastic eggs filled with wrapped candy, little toys or stickers. Then the morning of the hunt we find that the Easter Bunny has made a special early trip to Whitehouse to hide the eggs for all the kids."

The children of the Whitehouse community are invited to bring their Easter baskets, buckets or bags and search all the hiding places of the Whitehouse City Park for hundreds of candy and prize-filled eggs.

Enormous fun-filled baskets will go home with some lucky children. These prizes will be awarded through special egg finds.

The hunt begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 31.

The Whitehouse Women's Civic League began with a couple of small community projects in 1999. Through its continued growth and involvement the projects have blossomed to include providing for families in need at Thanksgiving and Christmas, sharing studentmade Valentines with the residents of Oakbrook Nursing Home, Movie in the Park and YesterYear.

WWCL also contributes financially with many community projects, the Whitehouse Library and the Whitehouse volunteer fire department.
