Boys drop bi-district contest

Whitehouse was the runner up of District 17-4A and Palestine finished in third place of District 18. Their bidistrict battle last Friday in Nacogdoches proved to be a tough match as both teams struggled to find the goal in the first half.

Whitehouse had eight first half shots to Palestine's

five, and the score remained knotted at zero.

Palestine came out strong to star t the second half, finding success just three minutes in when on a fast break that sent a ball into the 6 yard box, resulting in a header that went just around Justin Parker for the 1-0 lead.

Palestine scored two more times before Whitehouse got the board with 10:36 remaining in the game. Howard Rodriquez received the ball at the left side of the goal and was coming into the box when he was taken down from behind, setting up a penalty kick.

Paul Metzner was set to take the kick and he Put a bullet into the upper 90 that made the score 3-1.

Palestine finished the scoring just minutes later making it 4-1.

Despite outshooting Palestine 20 to 14 and taking seven corners to their two, Whitehouse ended its sea- son. For 11 seniors it would be their final high school game.

Whitehouse finishes the year with a 18-5-2 record.

Leading scorers for the year were Rodriguez, 13 goals and 4 assists; Metzner, 10 goals, 7 assists; Eric O'Neill, 8 goals, 7 assists; and Caleb Jacque, 7 goals, 2 assists.

Goalie Justin Parker had 15 shutouts and allowed just .6 goals per game average.
