Level 7 gymnasts compete at state

Texas East Gymnastics' Level 7 team competed in Denton at the state championships. The competition was held on the Texas Woman's University campus at the home of the TWU Pioneers.

Athletes and coaches from around the state came together as their athletes were presented with matching leotards from the State Gymnastics Board to show off their hard work and see who would be the Level 7 State Champion.

Amanda Hamilton of Dibol competed for her first time for TEG and made them proud. Amanda put in hours of hard work over the past year and it paid off. She placed third on bars with a 9.4, fourth on floor with a 9.6 and eighth in the All Around with a 37.3.

Cori Roach of Pollok proved her mastery of Level 7 skills this year by placing second on beam and floor with a 9.625 and 9.75 respectively. Cori also placed seventh on vault with a 9.5 and was ninth in the all around with a 36.725.

Apryl Hansen of Tyler and Haven Hughes of Bullard finished up the competition in the last session with scores, performances and hardware to be proud of.

Apryl scored a 9.55 on vault placing eighth, 9.525 on beam placing fourth, 9.65 on floor placing seventh and a 37.135 in the all around. Haven scored a 9.35 on beam and placed fifth, a 9.7 on floor to place third and a 37.75 for seventh in the all around.

The Level 7 team brought home the third place banner and is ready to begin working on Level 8 skills and combinations.
