Happy Hearts to host AARP driver safety program

The Happy Hearts of First Baptist Church of Whitehouse are hosting the AARP Driver Safety Program April 25-26. The class will begin at 1 p.m. in the big east room of the church.

The AARP Driver Safety Program is the nation's first and largest refresher course for drivers age 50 and older that has helped millions of drivers remain safe on today's roads

AARP has offered the course in the classroom for 25 years and now offers the same course online. It is designed to help seniors tune up their driving skills and update their knowledge of the rules of the road.

The course also offers information about normal age-related physical changes and how to adjust driving to allow for these changes.

Instruction on reducing traffic violations, crashes and chances for injuries will be discussed as well as tips on driving more safely.

Graduates of the course can get an insurance discount. Auto insurance companies in most states provide a multiyear discount to AARP graduates.

There is a $10 fee and class size is limited to 30 people. To register for the program contact Joe Sparkman at 903-561-6499.
