Armed with brochures, membership applications and free samples, more than 30 area businesses and organizations participated in Tuesday's Business Expo.

Sponsored by the Greater Whitehouse Area Chamber of Commerce, the debut event was held in the auxiliary gym at Whitehouse High School.

According to chairperson Sandra Knackstedt, the chamber hopes to make the expo an annual event, affording businesses and other groups a different avenue to reach potential customers.

"This can be an exciting opportunity for businesses and groups to inform the public and chamber members what you have to offer," said Mrs. Knackstedt.

Valerie Durst, representing the Whitehouse Women's Civil League, said the event was beneficial in two ways.

"This has been good exposure for our organization, because we've had several people stop by who didn't even know we existed," said Mrs. Durst. "And now, when newcomers to Whitehouse join our organization, we'll be able to tell them more about the businesses here."
