Pre-K, Head Start sign up scheduled April 23-27

Registration for pre-kindergarten and Head Start at Higgins Intermediate will be 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 23-27.

Eligibility for pre-kindergarten and Head Start is based on any one of the following criteria: 1) economic need, 2) meet ESL guidelines, 3) are designated as homeless, or have parent(s) that are active military, activated Guardsmen and Reservists or those ser vice members recovering from injuries sustained in service. These students must be four years old by Sept. 1, 2007 and reside in the Whitehouse Independent School District.

In order to register at Higgins, you must have the following information with you when you come to register:

1) Proof of Residence: current electric OR water bill AND mortgage, OR tax appraisal statement OR lease agreement (child's name must be listed on the lease).

2) Birth Certificate 3) Social Security Card 4) Shot Record- must be upto date by the first day of 2007- 08 school year

5) Copy of parent's or guardian's driver's license

6) Current proof of all income (year to date check stub for pre-K, income tax return for Head Start)

7) Any other applicable legal documents such as a divorce decree, custody papers, etc., should also be presented at the time of registration.
