Earth Day celebration planned The Camp Tyler Foundation is looking for Earth-friendly businesses and organizations that would like to participate in Earth Day East Texas from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 21 at Camp Tyler. Groups are invited to set up a booth at this event to educate the public about being a good steward of their environment. Activities include hayrides, nature trail walks, bird watching, gardening and composting demonstrations. Children will be invited to pet the bunnies, goats and other animals at the historic East Texas Farm at Camp Tyler and play fun educational games to earn an Earth Day patch. Throughout the day, live music will be performed by singer/ songwriters Randy Brown of Mineola, Jim Bush of Waxahachie, Lisa Markley of Dallas, James Michael Taylor of Fort Worth and others. "We encourage people to car pool for Mother Nature," said Pam Hood Event Chairman. "A $5 donation per car would be greatly appreciated." Groups that have already committed to participating include the Master Naturalist, Master Gardeners, Keep Whitehouse Beautiful, Keep Tyler Beautiful, Cool Planet, the Audubon Society, the Geological Society, the East Texas Gem and Mineral Society and the University of Texas at Tyler. Other environmentally conscious businesses and groups are invited to contact Mrs. Hood at 903-839-0806 to sign up for a booth and participate in Earth Day East Texas. Camp Tyler is located on Lake Tyler at 15143 Camp Tyler Road in Whitehouse. |
