Troup development on rise
BY SUZANNE LOUDAMY Staff writer

The annual meeting of the Troup Community Development Corporation was held Tuesday. Elections were held for officers of the corporation. All seats remain as elected in the previous year with Gene Cottle as president, Ronny Melton as vice president, John Whitsell as treasurer and Bonnie Hinkle as secretary.

The group voted to donate $1,000 to the Tyler Economic Development Corporation. Of the 10 major projects going on through the TEDC, two of those are in Troup. That is 20 percent of their efforts taking place in Troup. In the past, the TCDC has donated $500 per year.

Under consideration of future projects, two were discussed and approved. The first, being contingent on city council action, is to take part in a GPS mapping service. The cost is approximately $2500. The corporation approved participation in the project if the city council would agree to pay half. Mr. Whitsell agreed to ask the council to place the item on their next agenda for consideration.

The second project approved was to pay the cost incurred by the city of Troup in providing sewer for the new Sonic. The city invested $22,432 to complete the project. The TCDC can assist with this due to the fact that it is considered for industrial purpose.
