First Ladies bring home more awards

The Whitehouse First Ladies Drill Team is all smiles with the awards they won at a recent competition.
The Whitehouse High School First Ladies attended a Starmakers Dance Extravaganza competition in Garland recently and won many prestigious awards.

Teams from several "5A" Texas schools attended the competition, as well as teams from Oklahoma and Kansas schools.

The First Ladies performed three routines and were named to the "Circle of Stars," a group reserved for top scoring teams, and named "Excellence in Entertainment." They also received "Perfect Sweepstakes" since they earned a 90 or above on every routine entered from every judge.

The team also earned "Best Precision," "Best Choreography," "Best Showmanship" and "Best Technique" awards. They won "Gold Awards" for their pom and modern routines and the "Bronze Award" for their jazz routine.

The First Ladies officers entered three additional routines and were also placed in the "Circle of Stars" and received a "Perfect Sweepstakes" for their outstanding performances. They were awarded "Best Precision," "Best Choreography," and "Best Technique" along with a "Gold Award" for their jazz routine and a "Silver Award" for their lyrical routine.

Each officer entered a solo routine in the competition. Dru Dawkins was named second runner up and Whitney Greeney and Laura Viergever were named solo finalists out of more than 125 soloists. These three dancers performed their routines during the award presentations.
