Forst assigned to USS Princeton

Seaman Kyle Forst
Seaman Apprentice Kyle J. Forst was one of the more than 6000 sailors and marines deployed with the USS Nimitz (CVN68) Carrier Strike Group 11 from San Diego, Calif., on April 2. This carrier group will replace the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Group, currently operating in the Persian Gulf. The mission of the Nimitz group will be support for operations in Iraq, the Horn of Africa and Afghanistan.

Seaman Forst is assigned to the USS Princeton (CG59), a guided-missile cruiser, one of the ships in the Carrier Strike Group 11, supporting the USS Nimitz.

He is a 2006 graduate of Whitehouse High School. He completed Naval basic training at Great Lakes, Ill., Sept. 5, 2006 and was then transferred to Pensacola Naval Air Station, Fla., for additional training and received his permanent duty assignment aboard the USS Princeton (CG59) in San Diego, Calif., in January of 2007.

On Jan. 26, the USS Princeton sponsored "Family Day" aboard the ship for family and friends of the current crew, an activity they sponsor when the ship is preparing for deployment. His grandparents, Don and Anne Forst, spent the day at sea on the ship with him. They were treated to a "steel beach barbeque" provided by the ship's crew.

Seaman Forst is the son of Lee Forst of Arp, Cindy Vandergriff of Flint and the grandson of Don and Anne Forst of Whitehouse.
