Schools hosting rabies clinics
      The Smith County Extension office, area veterinarians and community volunteer groups will be conducting the annual Smith County dog and cat rabies vaccination clinics at 22 locations from April 23-28. Local sites include: - Monday, April 23, 7 p.m., Bullard High School Ag Shop.

Junior high students ready for 'High School Musical'

      Whitehouse will get a taste of Disney youth productions next week when Whitehouse Junior High presents High School Musical. The show will open at the Whitehouse High School auditorium on April 24 and run April 26, 27 and 28 beginning at 7:30 p.m. each evening.

Jon Harvell wins 2nd place in congressional art contest
Work to hang in Gohmert's D.C. office
      Artwork by Whitehouse High School student Jon Harvell will grace the Washington, D.C., office of Rep. Louie Gohmert. Harvell placed second in a congressional art contest open to more than 100 East Texas high schools in Gohmert's first congressional district.

Contest benefits scholarship fund
      The reigning champs are the Dumb Divas, and one of this year's teams is the Dirty Diaper Darlings (representing the Troup ISD Daycare Center). The competition is the annual trivia contest at Troup High School, benefiting the school's Academic Scholarship Fund.
