Troup team claims 3rd

Troup's first place computer science team is Yazan Al Saif, Charlie Ralph, Larry Praskey and Jake Herrington.
The Troup High School UIL academic competitors won third place overall at the district contest held at Panola Junior College.

Troup finished behind Tatum and Elysian Fields, improving from a seventh place standing last year.

The following students are regional qualifiers:

James Darby - third in Accounting

Jillian Roberson - Alternate in Accounting

Accounting Team - second place (James Darby, Jillian Roberson, Austin Braswell)

Jake Herrington - first in Computer Science

Kelly Partin - third in Computer Science

Computer Science Team - first Place (Jake Herrington, Kelly Partin, Charlie Ralph)

Kayla Bright - third in Feature Writing and third in Literary Criticism

Chelsea Isaacs - second in Literary Criticism

Andrew Scoggins - second in Computer Applications

Brent Stenberg - second in Lincoln-Douglas Debate and third in Persuasive Speaking

Amber Konesky - third in Lincoln-Douglas Debate

Members of the speech team include Brent Stenberg, who placed second in Lincoln- Douglas Debate and third in Persuasive Speaking; Amber Konesky, third in L-D Debate; and Charlie Ralph, fourth in L-D Debate.
Ashlae Kidd-Medley - third in News Writing

In addition, these students scored in the top six of their events earning points for Troup's overall academic total:

Traci Fields - fifth in Computer Applications

Austin Braswell - fifth in Accounting

Charlie Ralph - fifth in Computer Science and fourth in Lincoln Douglas Debate

Abby Darden - fifth in News Writing

Speech Team - second place

Larry Praskey - fourth in Computer Science

The One-Act Play cast and crew won zone contest held at Arp High School, advancing to district contest at Pine Tree. In district competition, Haleigh McPherson, B.J. Rambo and Sarah Mendolia earned All Star cast honors, while John Ross received an honorable mention.

Jared Ayres was named to the Outstanding Crew for work in sound.

Congratulations to the following high school event coaches who had team members earn points at UIL contest: Kathy Marshall, Amy Neel, Jennifer Minnix, John Chandler, Amanda Gilliam, Daniel Morgan and Melissa Freeman.
One-Act Play medalists are Haleigh McPherson, All Star Cast; John Ross, honorable mention All Star Cast; B.J. Rambo, All Star Cast; Jared Ayres, Outstanding Crew; and Sarah Mendolia, All Star Cast.
James Darby placed third in Accounting.
Kayla Bright placed third in Feature Writing and third in Literary Criticism.
