Pitching carries Cats to victory

      Troup followed last Tuesday's 3-1 win over Tatum with an 8-5 loss to Elysian Fields Friday, April 13. Nick Harrison (above) picked up the Tatum win and notched 12 strikeouts and one earned run. Austin Braswell recorded the loss to Elysian Fields.

Lady Cats earn trip to playoffs
      The Lady Cat softball squad downed Pine Tree Friday, April 13, improving their district mark to 10-2 and securing a playoff spot. The girls have just two district games remaining: hosting Hallsville Friday (for senior night) and traveling to Henderson Saturday.

Whitehouse falls at home to Pirates
      Whitehouse could not follow up last Tuesday's win on the road with a home win Friday night as they would fall to state ranked Pine Tree by a score of 12-2. The Pirates would get to Whitehouse starter Grant Brandon for five runs in the second inning to build a 6-0 lead and would never look back.

Quinn lone regional qualifier for WH boys track
      Will Quinn will represent Whitehouse High School at the Region 2-4A meet on April 27 - 28 at North Texas University in Denton. The senior distance runner placed second in both the 3200 and 1600 meter runs at the district meet in Hallsville on April 11-12.

Fun Day Saturday
      The Troup Youth Association will host its annual Fun Day this Saturday. Opening ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m. with baseball and softball games scheduled from 10 a.m. until 5:45 p.m. Kids can purchase tickets to jump in the bounce house, and booths will be set up with games for all ages to play.       The varsity Lady Cats finished seventh in district, totalling 42 points at the Hallsville meet. Senior Amber Brown qualified for regionals with third place finishes in both 100 and 200 meter dashes.

      Both the boys and girls track teams at Troup High School finished fifth at the district meet in Troup last Thursday. Tatum won the boys division and Garrison the girls.
