Pitching carries Cats to victory

The Whitehouse Wildcats went to Jacksonville last Tuesday in search of a much needed win to get back on track in the second half of district play.

The Wildcats would find that win as they rode the hot pitching of Ryan Miner. Miner would allow only two runs in the bottom of the first and would shut down the Indians for the rest of the night.

The Wildcats would come up with enough timely offense to pull out a 3-2 win. Miner would strike out 10 Indians on the night.

After Jacksonville took it's early 2-0 lead, the Wildcats would get their first run in the top of the second on an RBI single from Banks Brandon to score Brady Attaway from third who had reached on an error.

Grant Brandon had the other single in the inning before older brother, Banks, picked up the RBI.

The score would remain 2-1 until the top of the fourth when Chase West would single to left field with two outs driving in Attaway from second base. Attaway had doubled to left to start the inning.

The Wildcats would take the lead in the top of the sixth as Grant Brandon and West would reach base after being hit by two consecutive pitches. Again, the big hit would come from older brother as Banks would drive in Grant on a single to right center to give the 'Cats a 3-2 lead.

The one run lead would hold up as Miner shut down the Indi- ans in the sixth and seventh innings to preserve the win.

"I was really proud of how well Ryan pitched tonight. He kept us in the game until we could get the lead," stated Coach Robey.

"Ryan had good command of his breaking pitches tonight and really kept them off balance. I thought some of our guys really swung the bat well tonight, but we just didn't have anything to show for it."
