Community Activities Parkinsonians of East Texas meeting

Parkinsonians of East Texas will meet Thursday, April 19 at 2 p.m. at East Texas Medical Center Pavilion, 801 Clinic Dr., Tyler. The topic will be deep brain stimulation along with a video exercise tape for Parkinson patients. Parking is free for the meeting.

Vietnam Veterans of America to meet

Vietnam Veterans of America, Tyler Chapter, will meet Thursday, April 19 at Traditions at 7 p.m. All veterans are invited to attend. For info, call Robbie at 903-876-4935.

Annual rabies vaccination clinic set

The Whitehouse High School Ag. Science program will be hosting the annual rabies vaccination clinic. Rabies vaccination is required by the state of Texas for all domestic animals. The clinic will be held on Wednesday, April 25 at the pavilion across from the faculty parking at the high school campus. The cost is $7 per animal and the owner receives documentation from the administering vet that the animal has had its rabies shot. The workshop will begin at 7 p.m. Dogs and cats only.

Happy Hearts host AARP driver safety

The Happy Hearts of First Baptist Church of Whitehouse are hosting the AARP Driver Safety Program April 25-26. The class will begin at 1 p.m. in the big east room of the church. There is a $10 fee and class size is limited to 30 people. To register for the program contact Joe Sparkman at 903-561- 6499.

Spring Fling plant sale coming soon

The 9th annual Tyler Men's Garden Club Spring Fling plant sale is scheduled for Saturday, April 28 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tyler Rose Garden in the East Pavilion (Farmer's Market Shed).

Overton-New London Community Garage Sale

The good folks of the Overton-New London area have cleaned out their closets, cupboards, garages and yards! Bring your trucks and trailers ready to hit the mother-load of all sales on Saturday, May 5 beginning at 8 a.m. Maps will be available at local businesses for shoppers with a listing of all sale locations. This huge event is sponsored by the Overton-New London Chamber of Commerce. The Garage Sale will take place Rain or Shine. Four Winds Faire underway

The merry days of the Four Winds Faire has begun for the 2007 season, just four miles south of Whitehouse off CR 2138. The event runs through April 22. For more information visit www.FourWindsFaire.com.

KWB seeks garage sale items

Keep Whitehouse Beautiful, a nonprofit, all volunteer organization affiliated with Keep Texas Beautiful, is currently collecting items for their garage sale in May. Whitehouse Recycle Center hours

The Whitehouse Recycle Center is open every Wednesday 7-10 a.m. and 3:30-5 p.m. as well as the first and third Saturday 8 a.m. to noon. Bring your recyclable paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans. The Recycle Center is located on Railroad Ave.

Whitehouse library activities

The Whitehouse Library offers these activities: Story time is on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and scrapbooking nights are the third Friday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Come visit the library!

Weight loss support group meets Mondays

The Eat Right For Life Support Group meets every Monday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the meeting room of the Regions Bank in Whitehouse (across from the Post Office). Meetings are free. For more information, call 903-839-7634.

Troup American Legion hosts karaoke

Troup American Legion Post 418 has karaoke every Saturday night from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Church Related Activities

Saturday singing set at Union Grove

Union Grove Baptist Church, just outside of Troup on Hwy. 15, will have their Saturday night singing service April 21 at 5 p.m. Food will be served at 7 p.m. with more singing to follow.

Spring Fest set for April 28

Prince of Peace Catholic Church is planning its Spring Fest 2007 for April 28. Everyone is invited to come and attend the events, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 28. Attractions will include games for all ages, dunking booth, bounce house, hair painting, balloons, a flower shop, country store and arts and crafts from Smith County. Food sales will include frozen homemade casseroles and three food booths specializing in American, Mexican and Filipino cuisine. There will also be several mini raffles throughout the day and then a large drawing at 6:30 p.m.

School Related Activities

WHS Prom work underway

All junior parents and students are asked to attend two work days for the Whitehouse Jr/Sr Prom. These meetings are in the lecture hall on Thursday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 21 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Whitehouse All-School reunion Saturday

Graduates of Whitehouse High School are invited to attend the annual All-School reunion on Saturday, April 21 from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Cain Elementary School cafeteria, Highway 110 South in Whitehouse. Attendees are asked to bring finger foods. For more information contact Lana Wimberly at 903-839-2553.

Troup HS plant sale through April

Troup High School Horticulture Department is having a plant sale the whole month of April. The sale is open to the public Monday through Friday until 4 p.m.

WHS Class of 1997 plans reunion

The Whitehouse High School Class of 1997 is seeking contact information for their upcoming 10 year reunion. Anyone who graduated from WHS in 1997 or those with information on 1997 grads, please send that contact information to whsclassof97@gmail.com.

Whitehouse Town Hall meeting Monday

A Town Hall meeting will be held Monday, April 23 beginning at 7 p.m. in the Whitehouse City Council and Court chambers at 311 E. Main. The purpose of the Town Hall meeting is to disseminate information and take questions about the proposed city park and roadway and the upcoming election to approve funding for the project.
