FUMC women plan 2nd Celebration event

Celebration (a Woman to Woman Ministry) will have an event sponsored by the First United Methodist Church of Troup on Saturday, May 5 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The church is located at 202 East Duval.

A light brunch will be served starting at 9:30 a.m. This Celebration event is open to all women of all denominations.

The theme for the Celebration event will be "Red, White & Blue" with guest speaker Sharon McMahon from First United Methodist Church, Marshall. Mrs. McMahon is the wife of the current pastor at FUMC Marshall. Mrs. McMahon's message will be "Walking in the Light."

Mrs. McMahon has spoken at many Celebration meetings and has served as a keynote speaker at ministers' spouses' retreats and held workshops at Celebration retreats. She has served on almost every board of various churches, on UM conference committees and has taught Sunday School and Bible studies at the churches she and her husband have served for more than 25 years.

As a certified lay speaker, she has been granted the privilege and honor of proclaiming the gospel in several churches in the absence of their pastors.

Celebration is a woman to woman ministry sponsored by the Texas Annual Conference in the United Methodist Church, but invites and strongly encourages all area women of all dominations to participate in this exciting ministry. The purpose of Celebration is to strengthen and enrich the spiritual lives of women by helping them discover and grow in the fullness of life that God intended for all women to experience as citizens of His Kingdom on earth and as a foretaste of His Kingdom in Heaven. It is a ministry of sharing, encouraging, discipling and mentoring in the faith with other women, as well as, a ministry of prayer and worshiping in praise of God.
