Maggie Thompson Nelson
Mrs. Nelson died April 14, 2007 in a Jacksonville hospital. She was born Jan. 16, 1918 in Ponta and attended Rock Hill schools. She lived in Troup most of her life and later moved to Jacksonville. She was a homemaker and a domestic worker. She was a member of Rock Hill Presbyterian Church, and was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Henry Nelson Sr.; son, Earl Nelson; seven sisters; and four brothers. Survivors include sons, Gerald Nelson and Jim Henry Nelson Jr., both of Tyler; daughters, Mae Dean Jones, Jacksonville, Frances J. Howard, Denver, Colo., and Murl Hackney, Bullard; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Danny E. Whitmill, Tony L. Jones, Warren D. Whitmill, LaTerrell L. Hackney, Gerald J. Nelson and Jim N. Nelson III. Honorary pallbearers were Elders Pete Thompson and Vernon Sanders, and Deacons James E. Gordon and Carl Tennison. |
