George I. Carter
He was born Dec. 3, 1932 in Bullard to the late Charlie Wesley and Geneva Carter. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, a former member of the city council of Whitehouse, and both the Planning and Building committees of Whitehouse. He was a proud United States Navy veteran of the Korean War, and he enjoyed fishing, camping and the Bluegrass Festival. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and a devoted worker at Kelly-Springfield. He was a development engineer for 28 years, and retired in 1988 from Kelly-Springfield. Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Roy Carter; and one sister, Ann (Carter) Clancy. George is survived by his loving family including his wife of 53 years, Marie Carter of Whitehouse; daughters, Sharron Carter of Billingham, Wash., Brenda Glover and husband Mike of Whitehouse, Charlotte Petree and husband Cecil of Whitehouse; grandchildren, Brandon Hightower, Adam Glover, Aaron Glover, Cecily Petree and Coltan Petree; sisters, Linda Carter Howell and husband Tom of Tyler, Barbara LaNell Harvey and husband Hugh of Arp; sister-in-law, Marianna Carter of Tyler; brother-in-law, Richard Clancy of Tyler. Pallbearers were Coltan Petree, Tommy Howell, Richard Clancy, Adam Glover, Aaron Glover, Brandon Hightower and George Lee Warren. Honorary pallbearers were family, friends, doctors and Hospice of East Texas.
