Lady Cats lose series with N. Lamar

The Whitehouse Lady Cats bowed out of the playoffs, losing two close games to North Lamar.

Playing in Greenville, North Lamar swept Whitehouse in two games, winning Thursday 1-0 and Friday 2-1.

The Lady Cats outhit North Lamar 7-to-3, but failed to get any more runners across home plate after taking the early 1-0 lead off a Taylor Russell single that brought Brittany Jordan home.

The led held until the Pantherettes mounted a tworun rally in the fourthin inning after the third out was nullified by an illegal pitch call on WH.

The Lady Cats threatened to add to its 1-0 lead in top of the fourth inning.

Haley Foster laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance Stephany Crawford and Erica Fuller, who walked and singled.

Brittany Newsome hit a sharp grounder to North Lamar fielder and Crawford was tagged out at home. Fuller rounded third and was caught between third and home and eventually tagged out.

North Lamar went on to score two runs and then withstood further Lady Cat challenges.
