Mattie Bell Smeley

NEW SUMMERFIELD - Graveside services for Mattie Bell Smeley, 93, of New Summerfield were held May 5 at McDonald Cemetery with Bro. Paul Dowdy officiating under direction of Boren- Conner Funeral Home, Jacksonville.

Mrs. Smeley died May 3, 2007, in Tyler.

She was born April 19, 1914 in Cherokee County and was a lifelong resident. She was a member of New Summerfield Church of Christ. She worked as a seamstress at Maria's Bras and at Nichols- Kusan. She was a member of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Cotton Sowell and Virgil Smeley; brothers, Edwin and Truman Magee; and grandson, Mike Morgan.

Survivors include daughters, Joyce Beam, Tyler, and Gayle Morgan, Troup; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one greatgreat grandchild.

Honorary pallbearers were Barry Mayo, Roel Alonzo, Josh Alonzo, Jeremy Alonzo, Bill Mabry and Tommy Durham.
