On Friday, April 27, the Whitehouse Ag mechanics team competed in the final show of the season.
The East Texas Junior Invitational Livestock Expo was held at the grounds of the Keipersol estates in Bullard. The show was an exclusive show and only those with an invitation were able to enter. There were in excess of 40 different projects entered by area schools and 4H chapters.
Amanda Robinson exhibited a 12' utility trailer, Chris Daniel and Ross Harmon showed a 10' utility trailer, Derek Parker and Jodie Peterson competed with their custom-built welding trailer, and Dakota and Monica Nelson showed their restored 1946 Farmall H tractor. Each project earned a blue ribbon, designating them first in their respective classes.
In addition to winning their classes, the Nelsons' tractor won the title of Reserve Grand Champion in the open division of the show, and also won the title of Reserve Grand Champion out of all the entries in the ag mechanics portion of the show.
To culminate the show, Jodie Peterson and Derek Parker and their welding trailer won the highest honors by being presented with Grand Champion of the Open division and overall Grand Champion of the show. The welding trailer scored a perfect 100 from the judges.
Derek and Jodie were each presented with $150 worth of gift certificates to Cavander's Boot City.
The students and teachers of the Agriculture Department at Whitehouse High School would like to thank the faculty, administration and members of the community for their support of this outstanding program.
