Vietnam Veterans of America to meet

Vietnam Veterans of America, Tyler Chapter, will meet Thursday, May 17 at Traditions at 7 p.m. All veterans are invited to attend. For info, call Robbie at 903-876-4935.

KWB garage sale rescheduled

Keep Whitehouse Beautiful reschedule their HUGE garage sale for Friday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, May 19 from 8 a.m. to noon. The sale will take place on the parking lot just south of the Sonic on Hwy. 110 in Whitehouse.

Mixon church garage sale set

Mixon Missionary Baptist Church is having a garage sale Friday and Saturday, May 18-19, at the Mixon Life Center on Hwy 135. Sale hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

East Shore Estates holds garage sale

An area wide community garage sale will be sponsored by the East Shore Estates Homeowners Association Friday, May 18 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, May 19 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. East Shore Estates is located near Omen on Lake Tyler East. There are about 100 homes in the community.

Seminar concerning foster children offered

Judge Carole Clark is sponsoring a 2 hour seminar on May 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The seminar will be held in the 321st District Court in the Smith County Courthouse. The title is "Attachment Disorders in Foster Children." It will be taught by Dr. Caryn Purvis from TCU. This area is her specialty. CLE credits for lawyers is pending. Please RSVP to 903-590-1600 as a light lunch will be served.

Troup Genealogical Society hosts presentation

The Troup Genealogical/Historical Society presents Jack Selden who will make a presentation on the Native American Chief Quanah Parker on Saturday, May 19 at 2 p.m. at the Troup library.

Parkinsonians of East Texas meeting

Parkinsonians of East Texas will meet Thursday, May 24 at 2 p.m. at East Texas Medical Center Pavilion, 801 Clinic Dr., Tyler. The meeting will include a continuation of chair exercise demonstrations. Parking is free for the meeting.

Union Grove hosts singing

The Union Grove Baptist Church in Troup will host an afternoon of singing on Saturday, May 19 beginning at 5 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. and with more singing to following.

School Related Activities

WJHS Band concert set

The Whitehouse Junior High Band Concert will be on Thursday night, May 17 at 7 p.m. in the Whitehouse High School auditorium.

Government Related Activities

Troup trustees to meet

Troup ISD trustees meet Monday, May 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Troup ISD Administration Office at 201 N. Carolina. Votes from the May 12 election will be canvassed at this meeting.

Whitehouse City Council to meet

Whitehouse City Council will meet Tuesday, May 22 at 6:00 p.m. in the Whitehouse City Council and Court chambers at 311 E. Main. Votes from the May 12 election will be canvassed at this meeting.

Troup City Council to meet

Troup City Council will meet Tuesday, May 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Troup ISD Administration Office at 201 N. Carolina.
