Murl Goines

Services for Murl Goines, 77, of Whitehouse were held May 14 at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Zach Tomlinson presiding. Burial was at the Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

Murl passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007. Born May 6, 1930 in Harris County to the late John and Mary Lou Goines, Murl graduated from Conroe High School, 1947, joined the United States Air Force, 1949, undertaking a career in communications, retired, 1976, and graduated from St. Phillips College, 1980, with a degree in Real Estate.

Serving his country in both the Korean and Vietnam wars, Murl retired from the United States Air Force as Senior Master Sergeant after more than 27 years of service. He earned many awards throughout his military career.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ruth Goines of Whitehouse; son Barry Goines and wife Susanne of Whitehouse; daughter Terry-Lynn Hubany and husband Waymon of Marietta, Ga.; daughter Sandra Warner and husband Peter of Japan; and daughter Misty Sumner and husband Lane of Kent; one sister, Johnnie Mae Morrow; one brother, John Richard Goines and wife Judy; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Mike Dalton, Bubba Goines, Roy Neer, Lane Sumner, Trae Sutton, and Pete Warner.
