Higgins Intermediate fourth graders celebrated the 20th annual Round-up Day. Linda Pelham and Dick Counts brought bees in their hives to help the kids understand the honey making process. Lance Moore taught the kids how to rope a cow. The Caldwell Zoo sent Maria over with a tarantula and frog, and she showed her audience how to recognize a poisonious snake. Cassie Schmidt taught line dancing. The day included horse-shoeing, butter making and many other activities. The purpose of Round-up Day is to give the fourth-graders a real hands-on idea of what living in the old west would have been like.
