Tigers end year with Buna loss

The Troup Tigers ended the

07 season as area finalists, losing to Buna in a best-of-three series. Troup won the first game, 4-1, before falling 4-1 and 3-2 in games two and three.

Head Coach Cal Sparks credited senior pitcher Nick Harrison with the opening victory, a contest he described as a pitching dual.

"In games two and three we struggled at the plate and were unable to provide any run support for our pitchers," said Coach Sparks. "Overall we competed well and still had a successful season."

The varsity Tigers went 26-7 on the season and picked up two first place trophies and a third place trophy in pre-district tournaments, and were co-district and bi-district champs.

"I am very proud of these young men they played hard all year long," said Sparks.

The team did well in all-district nods, with Harrison picking up District 21-AA MVP honors.

Pitcher Adam Voigt received Newcomer of the Year.

Other all-district selections were Austin Braswell, first team pitcher; Jason O'Steen, first team outfield; Brice Clark, first team second base; Cody Deese, second team catcher; Thacher Riddle, second team outfield; Jared Ayres, honorable mention first base; and Preston Pittinger, honorable mention designated hitter.
