Maroon and White games today Are you ready for some football? The Maroon and White games at Whitehouse High School is scheduled Thursday, May 24, with junior varsity at 5:30 and varsity at 6 p.m. The Wildcats have been in spring training since April 30, with approximately 90 juniors and senior showing up for the first day and about 60 sophomores. Following an area-championship winning season, the main challenge for the Cats this season will be leadership, according to head coach Randy McFarlin. "We are trying to find some of these youngsters to step up and replace the leaders we lost," said McFarlin. Whitehouse coaches are also gearing up for their first summer football camp, scheduled June 4-8. This camp is for quarterbacks and receivers. Camp staff will include WH football coaches, plus some college athletes. Camp I will be June 4-8, from 9 a.m. to noon, for athletes entering grades fourth, fifth and sixth. Camp II will be June 11- 15, 9 a.m. to noon, for athletes entering seventh and eighth grades. The cost to attend each camp is $60. A second camp for incoming ninth graders is scheduled Aug. 6-10. This camp will provide instruction in the fundamentals of football, basic schemes of offense and defense, and offensive and defensive drills. |
