First Baptist dedicates flag pole with pledge

Veterans led the pledge of allegiance to the American flag during Sunday's dedication ceremony.
While many gathered for Memorial Day ceremonies, the congregation of the First Baptist Church of Whitehouse gathered on its front lawn to remember the men and women who have served in the armed forces and to dedicate a new flag pole which bears the American flag.

"If we are going to send our young men and women to fight overseas for our country, we've got to show them that we're rooting for them," said Troy Moser. Moser and other veterans who are members of the church approached Bro. Ray Davis some time back to ask about starting the project.

"Bro. Ray said 'Make it happen' so we did," Moser said. "Don Branam and others took on the project and we made it happen."

Moser says this is only the beginning. Plans are underway to add two more flag poles. One to fly the Texas flag and another to fly the Christian flag.

"We want people to know we honor our faith and our country," said Moser.
