FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS
Davenport hears God's call to preach in Troup
BY KELLY GRIFFITH Contributing Reporter

Kasime Davenport
Having recently graduated from Bible College in Denver Colorado, Kasime Davenport had been searching for God's new direction in his life.

A phone call from Church of Christ in Troup was just the answer.

"I'm here on assignment by the Lord," Davenport said.

Davenport knew this was where he belonged as soon as he received the phone call but reassures that there was still much prayer involved in his decision.

The California native did not make the journey alone though. Katinka, his wife, along with their children, Darnysha, Kasime Jr., Katriel and Clayel all followed to make Troup their home.

Though this is Davenport's first church to minister over, it is a goal he has been working toward since his two years in Bible college as well as time spent involved with student ministries in California.

"My main goal now is to just serve God and his people," Davenport said, "I'm happy to be here and am looking forward to working with the people of Troup."

Having been here just one week and still being only partially unpacked, Davenport realizes it is the people of the town that he enjoys so much.
