FUMC starts summer concert series Sunday

First United Methodist Church joyfully presents "Something More" Summer concert series.

Beginning Sunday, June 3, each week will feature a concert covering every type of Christian music imaginable.

"Our goal is to bring music that's different and unique," said UMC member Shelly Wilson. "We hope to have something for everyone."

The line up includes artists with styles as diverse as rap and country along with contemporary gospel, hip hop, R&B, blues and contemporary-Latin.

Rachel Keagy kicks off the series this Sunday at 7 p.m. Keagy grew up in California and currently lives and writes in Austin. She collaborates with her father, a guitarist and pianist, and has produced two CDs.

All area churches and youth groups are invited to this multidenominational event.

"We are hoping that the church seats will be filled and there will be no barriers of denomination," Wilson said. "It's a free concert for the community where anyone can come for fun and fellowship."

The church bus will be available for pick-ups at 6:15 and 6:30 at Elmwood and Troup Senior Apartments. Area nursing homes and assisted living facilities are also invited to attend. Please call 903-842-3320 if you would like to attend and need a ride.
