First Ladies seniors honored at banquet

The Whitehouse High School First Ladies Drill team honored a special group of members at their annual Farewell Banquet held at the Women's Building.

Drill team officers gave farewell comments to each of their squad members, managers and honor guards. The officers then honored Senior Officer Whitney Greeney, recalling many shared memories made throughout the year.

Shelly Johnston, director of the First Ladies, presented special awards for 2006-2007 (voted by the members) as follows: Ashlee Hays, First Lady of the Year; Brooke Gray, Sophomore Sweetheart; Sarah Carter, Junior Sweetheart; Ashlee Hays, Senior Sweetheart; Rachel Lunsford, Outstanding Dancer; Emily Williams, Outstanding Kicker; Heather Matthews, Best Attitude; Katie Tomlin, Best Projection; Morgan Booker, Most Improved.

The Director's Award was presented to Capt. Dru Dawkins.

Each senior member has been on the drill team for three years and was recognized with poignant statements of their dedication and commitment to the First Ladies.

Whitney Greeney served as first lieutenant her senior year, officer her junior year and was voted "First Lady of the Week" her sophomore year. She was a solo finalist at the "StarMakers" and "Lone Star State Championship" competitions this year.

Whitney hopes to continue to dance as a Kilgore Rangerette and is the daughter of Glen and Marian Greeney.

Courtney Clark served as "Head Squad Leader" her senior year and was voted "Sophomore Sweetheart" and "Best Attitude." Courtney was also voted "First Lady of the Week" all three years and is the daughter of Ken and Kelley Fairbanks.

Ashlee Hays served as a squad leader her senior year and was voted "First Lady of the Year," "Senior Sweetheart," "Junior Sweetheart" and "Most Improved." She was also "First Lady of the Week" for three years and is the daughter of Randy Hays and Susan Hall.

Other First Lady seniors are Kelli Jeter, daughter of Michael and Nancy Jeter; Nikki Nicholson, daughter of Gary and Melissa Nicholson; and Chelsey Robertson, daughter of Todd and Lisa Robertson. Each served as squad leader and was voted "First Lady of the Week" for two years.
