Auto show added to agenda A major addition to the YesterYear festivities this year will be the Charity Car-Truck and Bike Show on Saturday, June 23, sponsored by the Whitehouse Range Riders motorcycle club. Vendors and vehicles will set up on the north side of Whitehouse City Park on Saturday morning prior to the 10 a.m. parade start. The park is located at the corner of FM 346 and FM 848. Those signed up to show their off their wheels are welcome to drive in the parade as well. The parade will form in the parking lot of Whitehouse Junior High on Hwy. 110 beginning at 8:30 a.m., to be in place no later than 9:30 a.m. The entry fee for the show is $25 per vehicle with vendor spots available at $30 each. Event organizer Stephanie Muller said area merchants have been more than generous with their contribution of prizes and support. There will be trophies and prizes for participants. Also featured during the show will be a visit from the Division 3 NJCAA World Series Champion Tyler Junior College Apaches. The team will be on hand to sign autographs and visit with the community. They have signed baseballs and a bat to be raffled later in the afternoon. The Tyler Rose himself, Earl Campbell is scheduled to make an appearance. According to Brad Hawkins, who has been working with Muller on the project, the Heismann trophy winner will be there to sign autographs for the kids and they hope to have an autographed football in the raffle as well. Along with other great prizes is a turbo 350 transmission at a value of $1300 being donated by Brad's Transmission of Whitehouse. There are two raffles. The first is for the transmission. Those tickets are $5 each or five for $20. The second is for all remaining prizes at a cost of $1 each or six for $5. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Whitehouse Shattered Dreams program. Shattered Dreams is a dynamic and visual experience which portrays the pain and death caused by impaired or distracted drivers. "Come help us help our youth to make better choices," Muller said. "It starts with us; it's called prevention. We can educate and help the youth of today make a better tomorrow for all of us for they are our leaders of tomorrow."
