YesterYear '07 bigger and better
Turnout high as weekend events near

A carnival is once again a part of YesterYear. The midway opened Wednesday evening and runs through Saturday. Tonight and Friday, $15 wristbands are available.
"You're not getting older, you're getting better!" That's the line many folks like to hear about themselves, but the news is older and better for the Whitehouse YesterYear Celebration.

The crowds and participation are better than ever. The 25th year of this event is breaking records left and right.

"The turnouts have been excellent and the best is yet to come," said Bob Hagan, YesterYear president.

The Roy Lawrence Memorial Golf Tournament, named in memory of a longtime YesterYear supporter and president Roy Lawrence, boasted 20 teams of four yielding 80 participants. This was an all-time high number of golfers for the fun fund raising event. (See page 7A for results.)

The Coronation and Ball last weekend had the high school cafeteria filled to near capacity as families enjoyed wonderful food and danced the night away to the tunes of the Take 2 Band.

The community tea honoring Mr. and Mrs. YesterYear, Clarence and Girthal Miller, also saw a record crowd of friends and family during the Sunday afternoon event.

With a silver anniversary as inspiration, YesterYear organizers are pulling out all the stops to make this year's festival extra

special. For a detailed look

Tickets for all YesterYear events and raffles are available at the Tri County Leader.

Other events of Saturday will include a petting zoo in the city park. As always, the park will be filled with craft and food vendors, free cotton candy, popcorn and sno-cones from the First Baptist Church.
