      I have been involved with Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1799 for many years. The past year as Commander of the Post, the highlight of my service the past year has been the generosity of the business community, the general public of Tyler, Whitehouse, Smith County and members of the VFW Post 1799.

Troup's 911 service restored
      Troup and Bullard residents were without 911 phone service for a while on Friday of last week. According to Gene Cottle, chairman of the 911 board, the problem arose when a software change was made. No physical lines were cut.
