L.C. Brooks

BULLARD - Services for L.C. Brooks, 79, of Bullard were held June 25 at Mount Nevelton CME Church with the Rev. Bruce Lyons officiating.

Burial was in Mount Nevelton Cemetery under direction of Community Funeral Home, Jacksonville.

Mr. Brooks died June 21, 2007 in Jacksonville.

He was born Sept. 21, 1927 in Troup to Alex and Ruthie Brooks. He was a member of Mount Nevelton CME Church, serving as Sunday school superintendent for 20 years, adult Bible teacher and chairman of the deacon board.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Mary Moreland, and brothers, Elgin Brooks and Elroy Brooks.

Survivors include his wife, Lessie Allen Brooks; son, Edward "Buck" Brooks; daughter, Arvellah Brooks Franklin; brothers, Cecil Brooks, Sammie L. Brooks, and James Brooks, all of Bullard, and Verlie C. Brooks, Jacksonville; sister, Clara Dewberry, Hawkins; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Preston Brooks, Harliam Brooks, James McCuin, Edron Brooks, Karl Brooks and Jerry Brooks.

Honorary pallbearers were Ronald Coleman, Christopher Washington, James Owens, Adrian Silmon, Booker T. Bowie, Todd Brooks, Maurice Anderson and Roddney Brooks.
