Jo Maples Noble
Jo Maples Noble, 76, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 26, 2007, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer at her daughter's home in Schertz. Graveside services were held Tuesday at Whitehouse Cemetery.

Jo was born on April 5, 1931, in Smith County to Clara Etta Warren Maples Phelps and Benjamin Wheeler Maples. She and her three brothers were reared in Whitehouse and Fort Worth, where she met and married her "brown-eyed handsome man" Royce Dayton Noble on Aug. 8, 1946.

They lived in Troup, Fort Worth, Hurst and Euless before moving to Whitehouse onto the old family homestead, "Stanley Hill." She had two daughters, Clarajo and Brenda Joyce, and a stepson, Royce Dan.

Jo was involved with PTA and Camp Fire Girls while her daughters were in school. She lived for a short time in San Marcos before moving to live with her youngest daughter in Schertz. She was a very loving and caring daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Jo was a quick-witted and fun-loving woman who loved life. Her Lord and Savior were always first in her life. She had a knack for making people feel right at home, even if she had just met them. Some of her pastimes were playing Wahoo, Rummy, drinking coffee and listening to gospel music.

Jo Maples Noble was preceded in death by her mother, father, stepfather, husband, two brothers, William Leo Maples and Wendel Gordon Maples, and a stepson, Royce Dan Noble. She is survived by a brother, Harold Leon Maples and his wife Wanda of Troup; her two daughters, Brenda Joyce Edson and her husband Jerry of Schertz, Clarajo (C.J.) Brown and her husband Mark of Granbury. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Mark Todd Brown, Jerry DeWayne Edson, Bryan Alan Brown, Jeffery Dayton Brown, Royce Martin Brown, Jamie Lynette Edson Opielski and Mindy Michelle Brown Hodges; five stepgrandchildren, Royce Wayne Noble, David Lynn Noble, Terry Noble, Michael Noble and Stormy Noble; 28 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and lots of cousins and friends. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Todd Brown, Jerry DeWayne Edson, Bryan Alan Brown, Jeffery Dayton Brown, Royce Martin Brown, Jamie Lynette Edson Opielski and Mindy Michelle Brown Hodges.
