PATH collecting school supplies PATH's annual drive for school supplies is under way and continues through Aug. 5. This year, PATH is trying to collect enough school supplies for 18,000 children and teens. PATH provides the school supplies to all participating public schools - elementary, middle and high schools - in Smith County. Donations will be accepted at all Tyler-area fire department locations, Wal-Mart in Lindale and the PATH office. Monetary donations in lieu of supplies will be used to buy school supplies in bulk. The list of needed supplies includes 24-pack Crayola crayons; #2 pencils; wide- and college ruled spiral notebooks; wide- and college-ruled notebook paper; Elmer's glue sticks; blue or black pens; five-tab dividers; colored pocket folders with brads; wooden rulers; and two-inch, three-ring binders. The City of Tyler Fire Department has locations at 218 E. Elm, 5505 Old Bullard Rd., 309 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.,2815 Frankston Hwy., 2804 Van Hwy., 1116 Troup Hwy., 3131 Shiloh Rd., 9111 Paluxy and 1718 W. Houston. Volunteers from the Target Distribution Center will sort the supplies and representatives from Smith County schools will be able to pick up their supplies on Aug. 14. Another sponsoring partner of this event is the Rose City Kiwanis. PATH is located at 402 W. Front St. in Tyler. |
