Troup concert-goers will be 'Touched by Grace'

The group known as "Touched by Grace" is the latest to offer up its vocal ministry for the United Methodist Church's "Something More" concert series in Troup.

The concerts are free and open to the public each Sunday at 7 p.m. Remaining performers are Shelly Wilson and Kerri Crocker on July 29, Beckah Shae on Aug. 5 and Elliott Fikes & Soul Serenade on Aug. 19.

All area churches and youth groups are invited to this multidenominational event.

"We are hoping that the church seats will be filled and there will be no barriers of denomination," UMC member Shelly Wilson said.

Touched by Grace began four years ago when Lanes Chapel UMC sought a more contemporary style of worship music. After lots of practice and auditions for drummers and bass players, Touched by Grace found its form and began to lead worship once a month.

In September of 2005, the group became worship leaders for a third service.

Current members of Touched by Grace are Micheal May and Bob Meyers from the original group, and newer members Patti Tabler, Adam Meyers and Andy Christopher.

The praise and worship band has played for several churches in Smith County.
