Brooke Sansom, granddaughter of Troup residents, Richard "Dickie" and Sandra Beeman, returned July 3 from a very special experience.
Brooke participated in a 14- day trip to London and Paris with the People to People Student Ambassador program. She traveled with a delegation of students from North Texas who were specially selected to participate in the education travel program.
The delegates participated in activities such as meeting with a current Member of Parliament, attending a theatre production of one of London's most popular shows, Fiddler on the Roof, touring Oxford, the Louvre and Versailles and numerous other pursuits.
Brooke's favorite memory of the trip was the day spent at the coast of Normandy where the delegates learned about the events of World War II and had a reflective moment at the American Cemetery as well as the Memorial Museum.
"I have a greater appreciation for those who have and still are willing to fight for our freedoms and rights," Brooke said.
The very last day of their trip was spent having fun at Disneyland Paris.
"The whole trip was just an awesome experience," Brooke reports.
Brooke is the daughter of Scott and Renita Sansom of Garland and is in the sixth grade.
