60th Anniversary
Gene and Evelyn Tomlin are celebrating their 60th anniversary today. Gene married the former Evelyn Davlin on Aug. 2, 1947 in Whitehouse. The Tomlins are charter members of First Assembly of God Whitehouse and were honored as Mr. and Mrs. YesterYear in 1996. A veteran of World War II, Gene owned an egg farm and was a bus driver for WISD. Evelyn also worked for WISD and retired after 23 years as a teacher. Since then, the couple has traveled extensively and is just returning from a road trip to Washington state. Their children are David Tomlin and wife Kate of Marysville, Wash., Bennie Tomlin of Austin, Beverly Kennedy and husband Scott of Tyler and Trudy Adams and husband Bruce of Whitehouse. They also have five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
