Troup Sons of the Legion to meet

Troup Sons of the Legion will meet Thursday, Aug. 2 at 6 p.m. at the legion hall.

Troup trash pick-up Saturday

Troup's American Legion, Post #418, will hold a trash pickup day on Saturday, Aug. 4, along its adopted highway section on Highway 110 South. Anyone interested in participating can join the post members from 7 a.m. until they finish.

Whitehouse library board meeting

The Whitehouse Library Board will meet Monday, Aug. 6 at 6 p.m. at the library.

East Texas Writers Guild meets

The East Texas Writers Guild will meet Monday, Aug. 6 at The Texas Book Store in Bullard. The business meeting is at 6:30 p.m. and the program will start at 7 p.m.

Troup American Legion Auxillary to meet

Troup American Legion Auxillary will meet Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. at the legion hall.

Dixie Masonic Lodge to meet

The Dixie Masonic Lodge #272 in Troup will meet Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the lodge hall.

Troup VFW to meet

The Troup VFW will meet Thursday, Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Troup Library

TYA to elect officers

The Troup Youth Association will be having a general meeting to elect officers for the 2007-2008 season on Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Troup baseball complex.

VFW Post 1799 open daily

VFW Post 1799 on Rhone Quarter Road opens daily at 2:30 p.m. for members and guests. Each day offers a different activity such as competitive pool, karaoke and social hour. For information visit WWW.vfw1799.org or call 903-561-3501.

Whitehouse Recycle Center hours

The Whitehouse Recycle Center is open every Wednesday 7-10 a.m. and 3:30-5 p.m. as well as the first and third Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Bring your recyclable paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans. The Recycle Center is located on Railroad Ave.

Whitehouse library activities

The Texas Summer Reading Club will conclude with an auction held Aug. 25 . Regular library hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday 11-4.

Church Activities

Whitehouse UMC hosts breakfast

The First United Methodist Church of Whitehouse hosts breakfast the first Saturday of the month from 8-10 a.m. A full breakfast meal is served and donations are accepted. The church is located at 405 W. Main.

Mt. Elem revival and homecoming set

The annual revival and homecoming of Mt. Elem Baptist Church, Hwy 110S, will begin Sunday, Aug. 5 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Gary Walker, speaker, and continue nightly at 7:30 p.m. for the revival Aug. 6-10. Rev. James Brice will be the evangelist. Everyone is invited.

Back to school bash set

The Lighthouse of Prayer Ministries in Troup is sponsoring a Back to School Bash on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Troup Library. They will be giving away FREE school supplies and refreshments. Also, guest speakers from various career fields will be on hand to encourage and motivate the children for the upcoming school year.

No Forerunners meeting in August

The Forerunners, Senior Adults of First Baptist Church of Troup, will not meet in August. The next luncheon and program will be on Monday, Sept. 10.
